The AspireSpace Sounding Rocket Vehicle (ASRV) Programme

Introduction The ASRV is a small sounding rocket designed to give team members experience in rocket construction and launch operations, and to allow access to rocket launched payloads for schools and universities. To date, 2 ASRV rockets have been launched. ASRV-1 in October, 1996, and ASRV-2 in March, 1997. In addition to this, a number of smaller rockets have been launched to test sub systems for use on the ASRV and other AspireSpace rockets. These rockets are referred to as the AspireSpace Experimental Vehicles (AXVs).

The objectives of the ASRV flight programme are as follows: To achieve a stable ballistic ascent to apogee To develop a robust re-usable recovery system To refine the AspireSpace flight prediction software using the flight data obtained To flight-prove the avionics system To establish and approve launch sequence logistics for future flights
