PhD in Astrophysics.

Research Area: Stellar Magnetohydrodynamics

I am currently engaged in part time research for a PhD in Astrophysics, specialising in Stellar Magnetohydrodynamics. This PhD is being undertaken at the Astrophysics Group of the University of Wolverhampton, under the supervision of Dr Gillian Pearce.

The PhD involves developing flaring mechanisms by undertaking mathematical and computational modelling of the evolution of flares on stellar surfaces. A special area of interest is sympathetic flaring, where multiple flares erupt in close proximity to each other. I am currently working on the magnetic field containment for an evolving plasma such as a solar flare.

The computational side of the simulations, involves writing code in C and C++, on SUN Workstations (using gcc) and on PC`s (using Borland C++ for Windows V4.0)
