Project Title: Numeric Modeling
Project Description:
The project will consist of numerical modeling of spatiotemporal chaos
and/or the numerical modeling and theoretical analysis of elements
(such as domain walls, "spiral" defects) that make up these
systems. Systems will be chosen that are begin studied experimentally
(elsewhere).
Background Information:
Although there has been great progress in understanding "low
dimensional chaos" - the random motion of simple systems with few
dynamic degrees of freedom - there is much less understanding of
"large" systems with many degrees of freedom. Many phenomena around us
fall into this class e.g. the atmosphere. The project aims to look
theoretically at laboratory manifestations of the phenomena.
