Project Title: Analyze Topographic Profiles
Project Description:
Origin of the earth's topography; relationships between mountain
building and topography. Use of Geographical Information System (GIS)
and IDL software to analyze topographic profiles in one and two
dimensions.
Background Information:
Project focused on the problem of whether the average elevation of the
Sierra Nevada is increasing or decreasing. We need to find a
criterion or criteria for judging whether or not it is rising.

Requirements:
The sponsor requires that interested students meet the following
requirements: Some computer skills, but programming not
necessary. Knowledge of Fourier transforms (Math 2?). Ge 11a, other Ge
courses desirable.
