Project Title: Thin Film Growth for GaAs Solar Cells
Project Description:
This project seeks a student to get fully involved in a project
designed to make large-grain polycrystalline thin film GaAs solar
cells on glass substrates for low-cost high-efficiency photovoltaic
applications. The work is similar in many methods and principles to
work done in thin films for microelectronic integrated circuits, and
includes considerable hands-on laboratory work in thin film growth and
analysis by transmission electron microscopy and optical
spectroscopy. Some of the work may involve microfabrication as
well. This project is funded through the National Renewable Energy
Laboratory, and involves collaboration with NREL scientists.
