Project Title: Chemistry Animation Project
Project Description:
Work with high-end Unix (Silicon Graphics and IBM RISC) workstations
and state-of-the-art graphics software to prepare 3-D animations for
use in college/high school level chemistry video tapes. Knowledge of
C, and CS1 are essential, and prior skills in 2-D or 3-D animation are
desirable. CS174 is useful also, although not required. Prior
experience with animation and rendering on PC level machines is very
useful, as is some artistic and creative ability in combination with
excellent computer knowledge.
Background Information:
The Chemistry Animation Project is a project by undergraduates to
prepare instructional videos for teaching chemistry to other students
worldwide. It is supervised by a professional animator, and the
students working in conjunction with Caltech staff and professors
design, storyboard, script, animate, and record video tapes for use in
classrooms throughout the world. Students work in teams on a project
and the ability to work well with others is essential.
