Project Title: Neural Interface and Neural Development
Project Description:
The nature of the projects vary with the interests, skills, and
ambition of the student. They could involve graphical programming
(Labview), neural cell culture, electrophysiology, electronic circuit
design and fabrication, or the testing of new imaging technologies for
neuroscience research.
Background Information:
In Professor Jerry Pine's lab, we are interested in hooking up brains
to computers. We use dissociated neuranal and organotypic slice
cultures as a testbed for neural interface technologies. In Professor
Scott Fraser's lab, we are interested in neural development. We have
constructed a 2-photon laser scanning microscope, which should have
many advantages over standard confocal microscopes, for imaging living
neural sttructures.
