Project Title:

Synthesis of Nanostructured Materials

Project Description:

This is laboratory work to make new metallic alloys having small (<100 angstrom) crystallites, and determine their structures by x-ray diffractometry.

Background Information:

We have been making nanostructured metals by rapid cooling, physical vapor deposition, and high energy ball milling. The work is leading us into studies of the electromagnetic properties of alloys.
