In late 1993, AspireSpace started developing the Mark 11 Waverider, another Rick Newlands design. The Mark 11 waverider is directly based on the Mark 10B viscous drag optimised design, with a 70 degree angle of sweepback, but with a greater aerobody volume like the STAAR research variants, as this puts a physical barrier, the fatter fuselage, between the lifting vortices, curing the instability.
Flight tests in 1995 were promising, with a number of successful unpowered flights being conducted.
