TurboCell System Access Pass Phrase
The TurboCell System Access Pass Phrase is a network
identifier that provides similar functionality to the
IEEE 802.11 Extended Service Set Identifier (ESSID). The
System Access Pass Phrase is a secure mechanism for establishing
connections between wireless systems. The System Access
Pass Phrase is a string of less than 32 characters used
to authenticate all TurboCell connections. When establishing
a connection, the Pass Phrase is always encrypted in a
one-way hash to prevent eavesdropping on the wireless
link.
The System Access Pass Phrase prevents unwanted connections
at both the base and satellite locations. Both base and
satellite will refuse connections from untrusted stations
that do not have the correct System Access Pass Phrase.
The System Access Pass Phrase is also protected by the
License
Number for clients using the TurboCell
PC Driver. This discourages users from changing their
Pass Phrase in order to gain access to a TurboCell network
to which they are not authorized access.
For more information on TurboCell's security mechanisms,
see the TurboCell
Authentication page.
