Wireless Features
From KarlNet's founding, wireless point-to-multipoint
solutions have been the core of our business.
Most
KarlNet products make use of a reliable data communication
algorithm pioneered by KarlNet to allow multiple buildings
to connect to each other wirelessly. This algorithm is
called TurboCell ("CellWave" in previous generations)
and offers revolutionary improvements in speed, security,
and remote satellite management.
Using standard wireless protocols (including IEEE 802.11),
propagation delays and the interference inherent in these
contention-based networks cause packets to be lost frequently.
TurboCell completely eliminates the problems common to
wireless packet loss by instituting reliable re-transmission
and drastically reducing contention. Standard protocols
also do not optimize throughput on the wireless link,
opting instead for a wired Ethernet-like scheme of transmitting
each packet individually. Actual data throughput for wireless
networks is generally proportional to packet size; for
Internet connections, these standard protocols can reduce
throughput dramatically.
TurboCell works on top of existing radio protocols such
as IEEE 802.11 to solve many of the problems associated
with wireless LAN's. KarlNet's TurboCell software allows
you to connect many different satellite sites together
in a unified wireless network, with increased security
and data throughput.

wireless products have to offer:
